DGCA exams in 2026: regular sessions, on-demand exams and the Pariksha portal
Every Indian commercial pilot clears the same set of DGCA theory papers. Here is how the system works in 2026 and how to plan around it.
The papers you need for a CPL
- Air Navigation (general and radio navigation)
- Aviation Meteorology
- Air Regulations
- Technical General (aircraft systems, engines, principles of flight)
- Technical Specific (the aircraft type you trained on)
- RTR(A), the radio telephony licence, in two parts
Since 1 December 2025 the DGCA conducts RTR examinations itself, after taking them over from the WPC Wing of the Department of Telecommunications.
How exams are scheduled
- Exams are computer-based and booked online.
- The DGCA holds regular sessions several times a year.
- Between them it runs On-Line On-Demand Examination (OLODE) sessions, giving candidates more chances to sit papers.
- Results and exam information are published through the DGCA's Pariksha portal.
Dates, fees and eligibility for each session are set by the DGCA. Always use the official calendar on the DGCA and Pariksha websites rather than dates copied onto third-party sites.
Planning your attempts
- Get your DGCA computer number first. It is your identity in the system, issued through the eGCA portal.
- Group subjects sensibly. Many students take Air Regulations and Meteorology together, then Navigation and Technical General.
- Leave margin before flight training. Flying schools prefer students with papers cleared.
- Practise in exam conditions. Timed, computer-based mock tests build speed and reveal weak topics.
- Aim for first-attempt passes. Airlines may look at your exam history.
At Charlie Foxtrot every DGCA subject runs as its own batch, with chapter tests and full mocks in the computer-based pattern, so you can sit papers in the session that suits you.
